Description

Lecture:Chemelot inSciTe Biobased Materials & Building Blocks: MAKING materials smarter

How do we produce chemicals, materials and energy critical to our wealth and wellbeing without depleting resources and affecting our environment? The Chemelot institute for Science & Technology (Chemelot InSciTe) combines the unique competences of its founding fathers to develop and up-scale novel chemistries and chemical process technology for biobased building blocks. The R&D programme will initially focus on three specific pathways towards biobased building blocks. Everything through wich a chemical and process technnological breakthrough can open large application opportunities:(1) from hemicellulose via furfural (2) from cellulose via HMF (3)from lignin via aromatics.
To support this research and development a specially designed pilot facility will arise at the Chemelot Campus.
The presentation will address the R&D program and planned R & D facilities as well as how InSciTe works to attract R &D project partners and give access to the bio-based pilot plant facilities
