Water treatment plant
Description
The Roer and Overmaas Water Board ensures dry feet, safe dykes, clean water and sufficient water in Limburg.
Dry feet means preventing flooding; Limburg's streams must be able to hold enough water. Where brooks are not wide enough, rainwater buffers are constructed.
Safe dykes means building and maintaining embankments to prevent flooding.
Clean water is water of good quality for all plant, animal and human life. To clean dirty wastewater from households and factories, there are sewage treatment plants.
Sufficient water is achieved by building dams to regulate water levels. All these activities take place within the Water Board's working area.
