Ergonomics in Control Room Design
Description
Ergonomics aims to optimise the match between humans on the one hand and tasks, machines, tools and environmental factors on the other. Optimisation means weighing up conflicting requirements and reaching consensus. This requires a systematic approach, where choices are based on explicitly formulated criteria. The control room is an example of a workplace where complex interaction tasks are performed. Ergonomics plays an important role there in design and instrumentation.
On the basis of a case study, current topics will be discussed such as: interior design, user interface design, alarm management and video wall design, as well as project management, organising user input and support development
