Heat stress
Description
If you have heat stress, your body can no longer cope with the temperature and humidity. You are then literally overheated, because your body does not sweat enough and thus does not cool down. This poses health risks.
Because of climate change, we expect rising temperatures and also more heat waves. The question is whether municipalities should anticipate this, and if so, how, that reduce the risks of heat stress.
Together with TNO, Deltares/TUDelft, Tauw is conducting research into heat stress. We produced a heat stress map for the municipality of Eindhoven to gain more insight into the heat stress phenomenon and to help the city with concrete and efficient measures such as greening the city or temporary measures such as large umbrellas, mobile water fountains or misting.
