Few activities are as exciting and full of surprises as construction projects, especially when they take place in other cultures.
Erik Gerretsen, ex Akzo Nobel, tries to serve up a small bite from a menu of anecdotes and experiences from all corners of the world within an hour that will hopefully lead to greater understanding and enjoyment of project management despite the unforeseen problems that always arise.

Every foreign project has a potential "show-stopper", which, if not discovered in time, can lead to disaster. The sudden surprises are often the result of greed, laziness, stupidity, miscommunication or misunderstanding and occasionally only as a result of faulty engineering or technology.

Our good Dutch engineering education does not prepare us for these exciting voyages of discovery. Only the "school of life" offers us this training
