Description

About 16% of world electricity production is generated by nuclear power. In the Netherlands, however, this is very modest. Only 4% of the requirement is generated in Borssele. The lecture will cover the aspects of nuclear energy from uranium to waste storage.
A nuclear power plant produces no greenhouse gases; makes us less dependent on fossil fuels (coal, oil, gas) and on the availability of solar, wind and hydropower.
The 'fuel' uranium is plentiful, safety aspects have been well mastered and good facilities are available for waste
