Season opener, Visit to Dru in Ulft

FROM SMELTEN AND GIETEN TO IJZERSTERK GENIETEN
Sunday 23 September marks the KIVI Gelderland season opening. This year it will take place at DRU Industriepark. DRU is traditionally an iron foundry in Ulft in the Achterhoek region. For some years now, the foundry has made way for a pop stage, event hall, museum/innovation centre.
Our visit will consist of a film screening (approx. 30 min) after reception at 13:00. We will then have a guided tour (approx. 90 min) of the site. During our visit you can learn that in the past it was not possible to cast iron, the required temperature of 1600 oC could not be achieved. After the tour, a quiz will be held over drinks. The activity will come to an end around 17:00.
The programme is as follows:
13.00 Arrival, reception with coffee/tea in the Schaftlokaal or foyer (Culture Factory)
13.50 To the 4th floor (lift/stairs) for film Symphony of Fire and Iron (DRU 1948)
143.00 Introduction and screening of film
14.45 Division into groups: guided tour of DRU Industriepark and through Cultuurfabriek
16.00 End of guided tour, gather in the foyer
16.15 Start of quiz, while enjoying a drink
16.45 End of programme
The DRU Industriepark is located at Hutteweg 24 in Ulft. Parking is available on Dru-laan. Reception is in the foyer of the Portiersgebouw.
A visit to the industry park is also fun for (small) children!
