Description

Twaron is a heat-resistant and strong synthetic fibre, developed in the 1970s by AkzoNobel. Since 2000, Twaron has been owned by the Teijin Group. The Dutch company Teijin Aramid is headquartered in Arnhem. Production of the polymer and yarn takes place in Delfzijl and Emmen, respectively. Twaron is a para-aramid and is used in the automotive industry (hoses, tyres), construction (civilian), sports, aerospace, military and industrial applications, e.g. bullet-proof vests, protective clothing and as a substitute for asbestos in e.g. brake pads and composites.
