The sustainable food factory.

The food industry is medium user of energy. They rank third after Metal & Electrical and the Chemical Industry. In food industry, there is still a lot to be saved. This is because in the past, energy prices were so low that it did not pay to make adjustments to installations. Today, this is completely different and savings of 95% are being realised.

At the top of the savings potential is the industrial heat pump. It functions best when the delta T is limited to around 20 degrees C. Then you can achieve efficiencies of more than 100%.

In second place is the electric boiler. This is similar to the kettle at home but much larger. This is a good solution to stop using gas.

Erik Geensen mentioned a total of 9 different savings options, but for these I refer you to the presentation on our website.

He also explained which projects have already been realised: powdered cheese drying, potato drying and savings in sausage making.

The conclusion is that the food industry can and must do a lot. The high price of energy helps here. It was an instructive evening.

The Sustainable Factory

Speaker: Erik Geensen www.equans.nl

In the food, beverage and agro industry, everyone feels the urgency that something has to change quickly in the current energy system. In addition, the requirements imposed by energy transition legislation also offer opportunities to make our factories more efficient and future-proof. By deploying sustainable technology, these goals can be fulfilled. Erik Geensen explains what needs to be done to achieve a sustainable factory.

Points covered are:

  • Energy Transition,
  • Digital Transition and
  • Industrial Transition

Walk-in is from 19:30, the lecture starts at 20:00.
