Network Café: What should we do if the netting scheme is abolished

Date: Monday 5 February 2024, start lecture 20:00, walk-in from 19:30

Netting currently takes place for small consumers (<80 A) who generate their own electricity. If part of the generated electricity is not used directly but fed into the electricity grid. In most cases, this generation takes place using solar panels. The electricity fed into the grid is deducted from the electricity taken from the grid. If a small consumer imports more electricity than he takes off, he will receive a so-called feed-in compensation from his supplier for this surplus

In the bill, the net-metering scheme is gradually phased out to zero from 1 January 2025 to 1 January 2031.

During this network café, we will address the question of what then. Is the home battery a solution or should we charge our electric car when the sun shines and use it as a battery again in the evening. A bigger challenge is how to save the power generated in summer for winter. We will also discuss how to deal with the feed-in tariff.

Speaker: Peter van der Sluis, innovation manager at Pepos Energy.

Plan: gradual phasing out of energy-saving scheme

From 2025, households and small companies will be able to gradually reduce their net-metering. From 2031, no more net-metering will be possible. Every year, households and small businesses will be able to balance slightly less, up to 0% in 2031:
