The fire training organised by Region Gelderland on 23 August was a success.

There were 15 "pyromaniacs" attending the fire training. As always, you start with theory first. We talked at length about the danger of lithium-ion batteries. Is an electric car allowed in an underground car park. Can the batteries spontaneously catch fire. The conclusion was: it remains dangerous. Next, our knowledge was tested using about 20 questions in Kahoot. Sometimes they were quite tricky. After an hour, the real work began: putting out fires. Simple at first, a flame in a pan. You put a lid on the pan and it goes out. Don't put a fire blanket on it because then you get a nice round hole in your fire blanket and the pan still burns. Then it was the burning rubbish bin's turn. A cinch you grab a foam extinguisher and it's solved in no time. We ended with a real fire, which shows that you shouldn't use water to extinguish a fire. Here you can choose between CO2 or foam.
