Description

Have you ever been to the Bleulandinum Anatomical Museum at the Uithof? Probably not, it can only be visited by appointment.

On Tuesday 14 November, you will get this chance. Professor Dr Ronald Bleys, head of the Department of Anatomy at UMC Utrecht, invites you for an exclusive tour of the museum. Beforehand, he will give an introduction entitled: The anatomy lesson through the centuries.

The museum is named after Jan Bleuland, a professor at Utrecht University from 1795 to 1826. Between 1780 and 1838, he put together a fascinating anatomical collection with which he laid the foundation for the current collection. In 1838, his collection was purchased by King Willem I for Utrecht University. The collection has greatly expanded over the years and, in addition to real human specimens, includes an extraordinary collection of models made of wax, papier-mâché, porcelain, plaster and plastic. The wax models made by Bleuland's prosector Petrus Koning are unique and very famous. If you would like to join this tour, please sign up.

From 3pm to 5pm.
