Electric Driving - The Future, Today
Description
These days, every day there is something in the news about electric driving. Hybrid cars have been around for a while, the most popular car in this segment being the Toyota Prius, but electric driving is new. Actually, electric driving is not new at all and it is historically the third time that electric driving has emerged.
This activity activity will briefly discuss what electric driving now entails and will then highlight the topic from three different angles. For this purpose, we have invited three speakers who will each give a unique view on electric driving from their own field of work.
The speakers are from Rijkswaterstaat, Conductix-Wampfler and Prestige Taxi.
Rijkswaterstaat itself has recently started using a small fleet of electric vehicles. What does electric driving mean for their work?
Conductix-Wampfler is an expert in the field of inductive charging, a technique used, for example, on a city bus in Utrecht. For this project, partly in collaboration with Connexxion and PROOV Unplugged Emobility, an electric bus is driving around (line 2) that charges at Utrecht CS using induction.
Prestige Taxi has recently commissioned a fleet of electric taxis, no longer to see IF it works, but precisely IF it works. Electric cars are currently still more expensive than conventional cars, yet this taxi station can run a business case with them.
For this activity, we will be guests at Rijkswaterstaat in Utrecht, in their beautiful LEF Future Centre, where several electric cars will also be on display. During the various presentations, there will be an opportunity for discussion in the LEF setting, followed by a convivial networking reception afterwards.
