Innovation in sustainable mobility
Description
On 1 November 2017, the NOS news opened that the traffic jam season had officially opened again, with the first record 1000 km of traffic jams in the evening rush hour. Cause: a brief Dutch rain shower.
In 1993 less than 25 years ago, the record in terms of traffic jams was 330 km in total. Even more striking is that all delays to get in and out of urban areas have not been mentioned for years by ANWB traffic jam news and or NOS news, but can be seen on your mobile.
Then the question arises:
How do we keep metropolitan areas accessible in the future?
Sub-questions:
The call by politicians for new infrastructure of both road and rail has started again.
But how do we actually use the current infrastructure of rail and road?
And which decisions in building new infrastructure will become much more important in the future to keep metropolitan areas accessible?
