Leidsche Rhine tunnel
Description
Due to success, another excursion to the tunnel for the A2 motorway currently under construction near the new Leidsche Rijn district.
With the creation of the new Leidsche Rijn district, the RW A2 effectively runs through the built-up area of the municipality of Utrecht. Between the
Utrecht-Woerden railway line and the Hooggelegen interchange, the motorway will shift about 100 metres towards the Leidsche Rijn district. This will therefore be a completely new road section. To prevent the motorway from being a wide barrier, splitting the city in two, it will be covered over a length of more than one and a half kilometres, by means of a tunnel. This will take place from the junction with the Utrecht-Woerden railway line to the junction with the Leidsche Rijn river.
A presentation will be given here on the widening of the A2 in general and the construction of the Leidsche Rijn tunnel
in particular. Followed by a visit to the construction site
of the tunnel.
