New year meeting Schoonhoven
The Silver Museum
The Silver Museum is located in Schoonhoven's historic town centre. The collection is beautifully displayed. The museum really comes highly recommended, beautiful location. A silversmith is present who can explain everything to you. It is a small but nice museum. The museum shows a nice collection from the past and present. The museum is fully wheelchair accessible.
Location is within walking distance of several parking places at, among others, the Spar and Albert Heijn.
Schoonhoven can be reached by Public Transport.
The city walk
After the museum, you will tour the silver town of Schoonhoven with a group of 20 and a guide. Schoonhoven is a town and former municipality in the municipality of Krimpenerwaard in South Holland. Schoonhoven is a fortified town. Almost 350 years ago, the old Dutch Waterline was our salvation in the war against Sea Beggars, Spaniards and French. By flooding polders, enemy armies could be stopped. Schoonhoven was the backbone of Dutch defence. Thus, besides the ferry gate, there are defensive walls, ramparts and old cannons to admire. But also an old floodgate with a white drawbridge. In short, it is all history, which the guide will tell you about.
Remarks
- The KIVI Utrecht region would appreciate it if you are in possession of a museum year card that you bring it with you and show it at the entrance. This will not give you a discount on the meeting but will save the Utrecht region on its expenses.
- Foreign liquor(s), wiskey and wisky ed are excluded at the New Year's reception.
