9 July 2022 KIVI Region Central Netherlands will visit Stoomgemaal Arkemheen

We will then be guests of the Arkemheen Steam Pumping Station Foundation.

The Arkemheen polder is part of the National Landscape Arkemheen-Eemland and a Natura 2000 area. It is a unique nature reserve with breeding grounds for many species of water and meadow birds and a foraging and wintering area for migratory birds.

The visitor centre is in the old coal shed of the steam pumping station.

For more info see https://www.stoomgemaal-arkemheen.nl/

Visitors can get a good idea of the natural values of the Arkemheen polder. Among other things, there will be a treasure hunt, a photo wall, polder animals, story by the dike reeve, all sorts of things.
