Description

Clauscentrale
The Clauscentrale in Maasbracht consists of two units Claus A and Claus C. Originally, the Clauscentrale consisted of two identical units A and B from 1977 and 1978. Unit A is still in operation. Unit B has undergone a major modernisation since 2008. B's steam turbine has been reused and combined with three new steg units. Thus, the new Unit C has become a modern gas-fired power plant with a capacity of about 1305 MW and efficiency of about 59%. State-of-the-art technology is used for the new unit, resulting in relatively low emissions per MWh produced. Claus C was commissioned in early 2012 and will be operational for at least 25 years. The old Claus A plant has a capacity of 640 MW. In time, it is planned to also convert unit A into unit D in a similar way to B. Currently, the Claus power station with units A and C with a combined capacity of 1945 MW is the largest gas-fired power station in the Netherlands
