Description

On Sunday 18 October, our traditional family walk is back on the programme. This year, our family walk will take you through Landgoed De Hamert.

Landgoed De Hamert is part of National Park De Maasduinen. This National Park is unique in that it contains the longest river dune belt in the Netherlands. These were created by the interplay of water, wind and man over the centuries. This has created a beautiful natural area.

National Park De Maasduinen owes its name to the striking drifting sand ridges called parabola dunes. These parabola dunes formed towards the end of the last ice age. Large parts of northern and central Limburg were then covered with a layer of covering sand. The wind blew this sand into sand ridges and horseshoe-shaped dunes. In subarea De Hamert, you will have a beautiful view of the fens from these typical parabolic dunes.

We will depart at 10.30 am from Jachthut "Op de Hamer" on Twistedenerweg 2 in Wellerlooi. After the walk, we will traditionally conclude with a communal lunch.
