Castle "De Keverberg": the most modern castle in the Netherlands
Castle "De Keverberg" was the former residence of Earldom Kessel and was restored in 2015 from a consolidated ruin of a motte castle located in the heart of the North Limburg village of Kessel on the river Meuse, upstream south of Venlo. The castle is also known as Kessel Castle.
The lecture on castle "De Keverberg" will be given by Mr Peter Beeks. He is a guide and did the architectural supervision during the 2015 reconstruction.
The following topics will be discussed:
- The history of the castle. Why is it in this place and what development did it make in 1,000 years?
- The organisation. How was the reconstruction in Kessel organised, who did what?
- The Rebuilding. The selection of architect, main contractor and installer and the choices of construction method, technology and materials?
