Description

As a continuation of our well-known annual walking dinners, this time we will visit the fortified town of Stevensweert. We will combine this with an evening cruise on the Maasplassen. This way, you will again have plenty of opportunity to network and enjoy beautiful surroundings.

Stevensweert was converted into a fortified town by the Spaniards during the Eighty Years' War. An earthen rampart with seven bastions and five ravelins was built around the town. Stevensweert has retained its seven-sided outline and geometric street pattern to this day. The original rampart no longer exists. In 2007, reconstruction of a small part of the fortifications was started using historical map material of a bastion, ravelin and associated moat north of Stevensweert
