Company visit AEB Amsterdam (Afval Energie Bedrijf)
Following previous visits in 1993 and 2002, the board of KIVI Region North-West has the pleasure of once again inviting you to a company visit to the Afval Energie Bedrijf (AEB) in Amsterdam-West.
AEB is an Amsterdam waste processing company with the task of making energy from waste as sustainably and cleanly as possible. AEB does this by extracting as much (re)usable material from the waste as possible. What remains of unusable residual waste is incinerated in the most sustainable way possible and converted into heat and electricity for households and businesses. AEB is technically complex and plays a crucial role in the energy transition in the Amsterdam region, among other things by capturing CO2 (CCS) and a bio-energy power plant.
Since 2014, AEB is no longer part of the City of Amsterdam. As an independent company, it contributes to Amsterdam's sustainability ambitions and those of surrounding municipalities and cooperating companies. Annually, it processes 1.4 million tonnes of waste.
