Despite the "weather warning" of strong winds, 47 KIVI-NIRIA members had come to lunch in the stylish waiting room second class of NS station restaurant Haarlem. After lunch, the party went on foot to NedTrain. NedTrain, part of NS, has been the specialist in maintenance' service, cleaning, overhaul and damage repair of rolling stock for more than 150 years. It has 30 branches in the Netherlands. Around 700 people work in Haarlem (including temporary staff). After a clear presentation, we were led through the very orderly and clean workshops in three groups. Inspired by effective working methods in the car industry, we saw the modernisation of railcars. Different teams performed their work on the vehicles step by step. No messy, jumbled workers, but everyone's own activity in a clean and safe environment. The visit to Nedtrain was a blast.
