The presentation was given by Dr Arthur ten Wolde. Nano-technology is in the news with regularity and, for instance, there was a detailed article in De Ingenieur of 10 July 2011 on the topic "Nano in the Clamp". The lecture began with a general introduction followed by examples with practical applications at present. Successes are being achieved in many areas, but there is also a downside to Nano-Technology. Finally, ten Wolde pointed out the risks to be expected from nanoparticles. It is these risks that give rise to public discussions. Given the fine turnout, we could conclude that the topic has a lot of interest. There were 35 listeners

We have found Dr Arthur ten Wolde willing to introduce us to Nano-Technology. Ten Wolde works at IMSA and has been project leader of the Foundation for the Future of Technology (STT) Exploration of Nanotechnology. For more information on IMSA see www.imsa.nl and STT see www.stt.nl.
After a general introduction followed by examples, with practical applications of the moment, the risks of nanoparticles that are giving rise to the public debate will also be discussed
