The visit began with a welcoming reception with a sandwich lunch. Bob Driessen MSc then provided an introduction on behalf of the management of Hotel Akersloot. He enthusiastically explained what is involved in running such a large Restaurant and Hotel. Above all, the trick is to maintain the simplicity of operations. His commitment to this company owned by the van der Valk family was striking. He went on to discuss management, maintenance, energy and environmental management, logistics of the kitchen and further matters related to technology. For instance, this Hotel has its own power generation. The many questions raised by this introduction indicated that it captivated the participants.
This introduction was followed by a tour of the company.
All in all, a successful visit in which35 people participated.

KIVI Region North Holland is pleased to invite you to participate in a visit to Hotel Van der Valk in Akersloot.
We will be welcomed there with drinks and a sandwich lunch.
Bob Driessen MSc will provide an introduction on behalf of the Hotel Akersloot management. Driessen, who studied Public Administration at TU-Twente, will update us on what is involved in running such a large Hotel and Restaurant. Among other things, he will talk about business operations, such as management, maintenance, energy and environmental management, logistics of the kitchen and other technical matters. For instance, this Hotel has its own power generation, but making sure each hotel room gets the right amount of hot water, for instance, is a profession in itself.
