Description

This activity starts with a lunch of soup, sandwiches and milk/buttermilk. This is followed by a reception at the Blauwestad information centre with coffee/tea and cake. We will then be shown the film of the birth of Blauwestad in a film room. Following this, Dana van der Veen or her colleague will explain the model. The cost of this is 2.- p/p.
Finally, we will also tour the area by boat or bus to get explanations in the area itself.

This visit will be held at the Blauwestad information centre.
This is an extremely interesting and engaging substantive lecture, followed by an excursion, which is definitely not to be missed. To give you some preliminary information:

The 'Blue City' refers to the area between the following places:
Winschoten
Scheemda
Midwolda
Finsterwolde
Beerta
Oostwold

The area is destined to become the blue heart of the Oldambt, the name of this region in East Groningen. After years of plan preparation, the realisation of a lake in this area is imminent. The province has played an important role in transforming the first bold ideas into a realisable plan.

The plan broadly includes the following:
- the construction of 1480 houses
- the realisation of around 350 ha of nature (as part of the National Ecological Network)
- the construction of an 800 ha lake
(average water depth of 1.40 metres.)

During the visit to the information centre, there will be an opportunity to ask questions about content. In addition to technical - and planning aspects, policy - and organisational issues can be raised. After the excursion in the grounds, there is the possibility for those who find it very sociable to talk a little longer.
