Company visit THIALF
Description
Thialf is the main ice stadium for top-class skaters in the Netherlands. The 'skating heart of the world' meets the specific requirements of the ISU in terms of top-class sports facilities.
But there is also a unique skating atmosphere in and around Thialf because of its history, the skating fans and the experience in the stadium. Besides the long track speed skating events, Thialf offers facilities for young and old for all disciplines; long track speed skating, short track, ice hockey, figure skating, curling and speed skating.
NEW BUILDING AND BACKGROUNDS
With the new Thialf, the Netherlands and Fryslân will remain the undisputed skating heart of the world. What Wimbledon is to tennis. And what Madison Square Garden is to basketball. Thialf is to international skating. Performing in competition like never before. Making possible what in human imagination seems physically, mentally and emotionally impossible. It happens in Thialf!
During the visit to Thialf, we will not limit ourselves to the visible Thialf, but will also look behind the scenes. Beert Boomsma will tell us the secrets of ice making. And show us the equipment needed to do so. So we get to see why Thialf is a world-class rink. And who knows, we might even see some skating stoppers along and on the rink. All in all, it promises to be a great afternoon.
