Description

The activity actually consists of 3 parts:
1. A company visit to de Groot and de Boer.
2. A visit to the new SAS jetty in Harlingen's Industriehaven.
3. A boat tour of Harlingen Havens.

Ad 1: The company's history goes back more than 60 years, to the founding of contractor De Boer in Workum. During that period, the company acquired a great reputation in the field of concrete and hydraulic engineering. After Mr de Groot joined the company in 1997, the decision was made to change the company name to de Boer en de Groot b.v. The new course, which combined years of experience with modern management, proved to be a successful one.

From the boardroom to the shop floor and from digital to traditional, we at de Boer en de Groot know all the ins and outs of concrete and hydraulic engineering, underlined by VCA and ISO 9001 certificates, FSC certificates and the BTR 2004 Rail certificate, among others.

After sister company Adonin b.v. had drawn up specifications and drawings for the municipality of Harlingen, De Boer en De Groot was invited to tender for the replacement of the existing wooden brakes near the floodgate (SAS) in Harlingen. The old breakwater will make way for a steel floating waiting pier, which will also be used for mooring water taxis. Work on our construction hall started in October 2012, after which the jetty will be installed after the storm season (1 April 2013). The jetty, which will be named SAS jetty was festively opened on 15 May, where the name was officially unveiled by deputy Jannewietske de Vries and councillor Maria le Roy..

16:45 - 18:00 round trip through Harlingen harbour (optional: explanation of developments by the municipality of Harlingen).
