Engineer café eNose
Description
We are guests for this engineering café at the new premises of Ingenieursbureau Reden in the Creative Factory.
Take a breath at the doctor's office and get an instant indication of whether or not you have a certain disease. It seems like science fiction, but in the foreseeable future, e-nose products will play an important role in the early recognition of abnormal patterns in breath that may indicate various types of cancer, cardiac aberrations and lung diseases.
E-nose systems are already being used in practice to measure changes in air quality, for example in the food industry, or to monitor safety as in the Rijnmond area. New e-nose developments for medical applications make it possible to carry out screenings in a fast, non-invasive and, for humans, pleasant way, thereby saving costs for follow-up examinations in 'healthy' people.
The eNose company (www.enose.nl) has set itself the goal of developing widely applicable diagnostic units that are affordable and mass-produced. Examples include the Aeonose (for detecting tuberculosis and throat cancer, among others) and the Aetholab (for detecting and identifying bacteria, among others)
Henny Oord, director of eNose company
from Zutphen will give a fascinating presentation on this topic. What technology is used and how is it protected? What problems have had to be solved to obtain reliable algorithms for data analysis? How are the clinical trials going and what are the results and expectations?
Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to talk afterwards over drinks.
