Description

Inreda Diabetic in Goor, founded by Robin Koops, himself a diabetes patient, offers us the unique opportunity to come and see inside the kitchen of this high-tech biomedical company. Anyone familiar with diabetes knows how difficult it is; finding a quiet spot on command, taking blood samples, measuring glucose levels, determining and setting doses and then injecting insulin or glucagon into yourself. Robin Koops wanted nothing more than to make all this unnecessary, so he developed an artificial pancreas that takes over all the above tasks fully automatically. With this, he became Entrepreneur of the Year and won the Herman Wijffels Prize, among others.

The device he developed takes over all functions of the pancreas non-stop. Two sensors continuously measure blood values in the body. The box contains reservoirs of insulin and glucagon, which are used to balance the body's blood sugar levels. As the artificial pancreas is a medical device, its usability and reliability must be extensively tested. Before this can begin, production must first be certified. This ISO certificate was recently obtained by Inreda.

NB: Inreda is regularly looking for new people, such as Embedded Software Engineers.
