How do we stay mobile?
Description
On 9 October this year, employers and employees were called on to avoid the rush hour and travel smarter. The aim was to demonstrate that the seemingly insoluble congestion problem is solvable if we are willing to be more flexible in our work and travel patterns. Tackling the mobility issue requires a comprehensive approach in which demand, supply, flexibility and customisation are the key words.
If you want to know more about this and join the discussion, come to the theme meeting 'How do we stay mobile' at the Drienerburght, UTwente, on Thursday 5 March.
This evening will be hosted by Bart van Arem, Mattieu Nuijten and Radboud Hack.
Bart van Arem works two days a week as a professor at the University of Twente (UT) for AIDA 'Applications of Integrated Driver Assistence'. This is also TNO and UT's knowledge centre in the field of driving task support for motorists.
His TNO colleague Mattieu Nuijten worked at the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management on investments in public transport and later at Rijkswaterstaat on the development of traffic management. At TNO, he works with Bart van Arem on 'Intelligent Transport Systems': smarter vehicles and roads, smarter travellers and better services by traffic space providers or transport service providers to travellers.
Bart and Mattieu will address the questions in their lecture:
- What is traffic management?
- What other possibilities are there to keep us mobile?
- How can modern information exchange techniques help us?
- What will the future bring us?
Radboud Hack will then introduce the discussion with a short lecture on the question:
- Is the Netherlands addressing the gap between mobility needs and mobility supply at the right system level?
Radboud Hack is an aerospace engineer, business administrator and systems thinker
