KIVI Engineering Day at Oyfo Engineering Museum
It was another successful KIVI Techniekdoemiddag: around 100 children enthused about engineering!
Thanks to a great cooperation between KIVI Region East and Techniekmuseum Oyfo, we are able to offer this afternoon every year. More about the pieces of work the children were able to make below.

KIVI Techniekdoemiddag: Working together with an Engineer!
Explore the interactive Techniekmuseum and work together with your child(ren) on various assignments during the KIVI Techniekdoemiddag.
On Saturday, October 7, KIVI Region East is organising in collaboration with Oyfo Techniekmuseum once again the KIVI Techniekdoemiddag for children aged 4 to 12. In groups and supervised by KIVI members, the children will work on different pieces of work. Afterwards, you can find out all about steam engines and smartphones in the museum. About robots and art. About energy sources and our planet. In short, everything about humans and technology.
The children are divided by age and make the following pieces of work:
Group 1/2 The Cradle Animal

In this workpiece, you measure (with help) and make a feather that fits exactly on the back of a pencil by twisting wire around a mould. Using various decorative materials, you will make the head of a fantasy animal on top.
Group 3/4 The ratite

Using an elastic band and wooden sticks, you make your own wind-up mechanism so that this bird can really walk. Measuring and aligning are very important here.
Group 5/6 The Sprite Beast

If you pull the rope this Sprite creature runs after you. To make the mechanism, you measure, saw, drill, sand and align. You can then let your imagination run wild with different craft materials.
Group 7/8 The Robot Bee

The robot bee is powered by 2 electric motors. When a feeler sprite hits an obstacle, it changes direction. This work is also full of technical skills, including soldering.
Participationcosts €4.50 for children, including materials, a drink and a tour of the museum. One accompanying adult per child has free entry to the museum.
Registration of the child(ren) is possible until 6 October via the KIVI website, stating name, first name and group. Entry only with confirmation of participation. Full is full!
Parents do not need to register via the website.
We also call on KIVI members to assist the children and convey their passion for engineering. Would you like to help? Then contact elfride.dijkstra@kivi.nl for more information.
