Revolutionary energy storage for building
Description
The world of tomorrow cannot do without cheap, safe and sustainable energy storage. The innovative hydrogen bromide flow battery derived from NASA is one of the promising but lesser-known solutions. Witteveen+Bos, working closely with Arnhem-based company Elestor and assisted by Energie Centrum Nederland and Hogeschool Arnhem Nijmegen, set out to work out this solution for the upgrading of its headquarters in Deventer. At Elestor, the aforementioned battery technology is being developed and at Witteveen+Bos, it is being tested in a first practical set-up.
What is involved in the development of such a new battery, and entirely in line with the KIVI annual theme 2016, how to deal with risks and safety?
Raphaël van der Velde, project leader within W+B, will tell us what objectives are being pursued and Wiebrant Kout of Elestor will introduce us to the applied technology.
