Description

Crowdsourcing is a recent development in which organisations (government, companies, institutions) or individuals make use of a large group of unspecified individuals (professionals, volunteers, interested parties) for consultancy, innovation, policy-making and research.
Although crowdsourcing does not necessarily have to be done via the Internet, it is the most common way. Accordingly, the crowdsourcing philosophy took off in the early 21st century, at the time of Web 2.0, partly due to James Surowiecki's book The Wisdom of Crowds. It is a development stemming from the earlier development of user-generated content. This term was first used by Jeff Howe and was created from a conflation of the term outsourcing with crowd, the English word for crowd (Wikipedia).

Rob Veldt, a pioneer in the field of crowdsourcing and open innovation, will explain what crowdsourcing is and how it works.
A few months ago, he featured an extensive article on the subject in De Telegraaf.

However, the lecture will also provide an opportunity to invite the 'community' to start crowdsourcing projects themselves. Consequently, if there is sufficient interest, the lecture will be continued in one or more workshops
