A company with a unique Product and Process has come to the right place at STT Products BV in Tolbert to think faster and smarter about Product and process development. These are the eloquent words of Mr Menno Kooistra (director) during his tour of the factory.
Over the past 32 years, the company has grown stably in size and today employs around 30 people. The company is expected to continue this stable growth in the coming years. In 2016, the company therefore moved to new premises across the street. This more than doubled the business area and is ready for the future. From this new home, this innovative developer of Products and Processes aims to further expand its position.
The image of the building above gives an impression of the new premises. A sleek and modern company where there is room for employee development and where customers feel at home. A "clean room" machine park where, among other things, robots perform serial work in the evening and machine operators facilitate robots in production during the day.
From metal to digital forms the basis of every new challenge STT Products takes on with its clients at home and abroad. Metal working is inextricably linked to digitalisation today. Smart manufacturing (smart factories), zero defect production, first time right principles and efficiency are unthinkable. All this data needs to be managed to stay ahead of competition from Asia and keep production in the Netherlands.
Robotisation and automation are in the genes of STT employees when developing new Products and processes. The strong confidence that robots will provide jobs to more people is the driving force. Robots will demand higher and differently educated professionals and new employees.
STT Products BV is a member of the "Region of smart factories". A consortium of companies from the North that jointly present themselves to the international market. This includes participation in international trade fairs such as Hannover Messe 2018.
After the tour of the factory, Menno Kooistra will give a presentation on the 8 Product Development Steps at STT. This will be based on a practical example. An engineer will also briefly present the creation of a parametric setup for a production cell.
