Van Vollenhoven is professor of risk management at the University of Twente and, as chairman of the Dutch Safety Board, often made the news with pithy statements. After the lecture, there will be discussion with the audience led by Magda Berndsen, former 2nd MP for D66. Previously, she was chief of police for the Friesland Police Region and mayor of Beverwijk, so she is well versed. Ferd Crone will also be present.
Van Vollenhoven is chairman of the Society and Safety Foundation and holds various international positions in that field. He is also chairman of the Victim Support Fund and the National Green Fund, among others. Until the end of 2012, he was chairman of the National Restoration Fund Foundation. Now he is still involved in the theme 'Reallocation of monuments'. That was part of the reason for him 'to be eager to perform' in the oldest monument in the city of Leeuwarden that now has a cultural function, he told the Dorpskerk.
