Description

The Hanze Institute of Technology (HIT), faculty of the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen, aims to be the most progressive international engineering education in the field of sensor technology within Europe. HIT seeks to identify and reward talent, excellence and innovation.

The education is based on the theme of sensor technology, within which there are aspects of engineering from all types of disciplines.
All education is placed within a social context. This enables students to study existing content and gather experience in the future application of a product or service.

HIT is an international school with faculty, partners and students from all over the world.
Communication and studies are directed in the English language. The programme is designed to attract students of different nationalities and cultures. These students, in turn, will strengthen the institute and increase the potential of the training programmes.
Industry partners play a leading role in the institute and the programme. Many of the programme themes have been adopted by companies or institutes with unparalleled experience in the field. This involves developing training materials, providing guest lecturers and building the technical infrastructure.

Why sensor technology
Sensor technology is an emerging technology with many challenges and opportunities. Applications of sensor technology are changing the world, offering unprecedented new opportunities for industry, services and the public sector.

What are sensors?
Sensors measure physical quantities and translate them into electrical signals that can be processed. They are increasingly being used. Examples include: process industry, health, gaming industry (the Wii), mobility, surveillance (including building, dykes), agriculture, etc. For example, pressure /temperature sensors are sensors but also GPS equipment, under a touch pad there is a sensor, in heart rate monitor and other medical applications there are sensors.

Why study Sensor Applications?
The programme differs from other engineering/technology programmes in a number of ways. Challenge manifests itself in the broad field of simple to complex applications. Besides technical subjects, you also learn a lot about personal effectiveness and entrepreneurship. You also work on your communication skills and there is room for creativity.
The interesting thing about the HIT programme, part of ICT at Groningen, is its kinship with almost all other Hanseatic programmes
