Visit to the neighbourhood battery at the Indië site in Almelo
Grid congestion. End of the net-metering scheme. Mismatch between generation and consumption. Just some of the terms we come across when talking about sustainable energy and the energy transition.
Ter Steege Bouw Vastgoed is known for transforming inner-city areas into residential districts. At the Indië site in Almelo, this developing builder has a trial running with a neighbourhood battery. This involves researchers from the UT, as well as the grid operator Coteq.
The study focuses on two research questions: how can storage of self-generated sustainable energy ensure peak-shaving and can this also be scaled up to neighbourhood level? And: what is the resident behaviour around this new way of energy supply?
On Thursday 30 May 2024, you can hear all about it during the meeting at the Stadslab in Almelo,
To park, it is best to enter Haven Noordzijde from Kolthofsingel and continue all the way to the end. Then the Stadslab will be signposted.
Visitors coming by train are best to walk from the station left into Stationsstraat past the bus station. Follow the road to the right and continue over the bridge down De Grenzen street towards the marina. Follow the road via Sluiskade Zuidzijde and at the big brown beech tree take the walkway onto the Indië grounds. This is the Doedes Breuning ten Catestraat. After the water, turn left on Kalverstraat towards the Stadslab. The route is about a 700-metre walk. Easily accessible so also highly recommended for students!
The meeting will end with a drink and a snack.
