Jubilee celebration 35 years Region South
Description
From the very beginning, since September 1976, Region South has been extremely active in organising activities. In 35 years, this has allowed us to grow to 1,400 members. Every week there is an activity you can participate in as a member. We also actively contribute to national themes and are directly involved in activities with higher education students from both Colleges and Universities. Reason enough to invite you all to celebrate this anniversary!
The day starts with a visit to Tilburg University where Dick Polet, as chairman of our region, welcomes us. Coffee and cake will be followed by a fascinating film presentation from the Brabant Collection on the industrialisation of East Brabant, introduced by Frank van der Maden.
This will be followed by a guided visit to the Library, one of the most modern university libraries in Europe. Housed in a building specially designed for optimal use of information technology, there are rooms for students to work together in addition to quiet rooms, everywhere with opportunities to access information via PC. Information from more than 800,000 subscriptions to journals in economics, econometrics, mathematics, business administration and information management. A team with specialists in each field maintains this offer and also assists you in consulting the physical books including special old books such as the old data of Brabant, kept in the Brabant Collection.
At noon, the morning programme ends and we will go by bus to the Toon Kortooms park in Deurne where we will enjoy a festive lunch in this beautiful nature reserve in the Peel, if possible in the open air. This will be followed by a sparkling presentation with film and sound images by the Brabant Cultural Capital team. We are introduced to the plans of the five large municipalities and the province on the development of the cultural climate and its stimulation of the living and investment climate in Brabant for the next 10 years.
Guides then lead us on a one-hour tour of the estate, through the park area with its Peel landscape to the historical remains of the peat factory on the peat canals and into the museum dedicated to Toon Kortooms, who lived here and wrote his novels about the region. Throughout presentations and tours, artists from the youth circus Circo Circolo will be on hand to provide entertainment
In the second presentation, Elies Lemkes will present Brainport's vision on Brabant's course in innovative entrepreneurship. Which activities will be attracted in which combinations, which infrastructural measures are needed and what prospects for the economy and employment this will offer.
After this presentation, you will have the opportunity to take a closer look at the beautiful surroundings, the park, the museum or the peat factory on your own and talk about the programme with friends.
The afternoon will be concluded by the chairman in which he will invite those who also signed up for dinner to the restaurant 'De Veenderij' after an aperitif, to sit down for a speciality buffet from the Peel region.
Participants in the entire programme up to or including dinner can use the hired bus transport from Tilburg to Deurne and back.
