The board's policy intentions were endorsed. However, the meeting did call for concrete actions to increase KIVI NIRIA's visibility and disseminate activities and results more widely than within its own circle. The meeting stressed that the board's priority should be to focus on recruitment and contact with students and potential young members. From the board, Paul Vermeulen will take on these activities. In particular, how to reach young people. While discussing this topic, he spontaneously received the offer from some members to form a working group with him. The working group has since been formed.
The audit committee's proposal to discharge the board based on its reported positive findings was adopted. The composition of the treasury committee was then renewed following the resignation after the expiry of the term of one of the members and the accession of a new member with the approval of the meeting.

With regard to the programme of activities, a number of suggestions were made, namely retaining and bringing back the manufacturing industry, biotechnology and automotive in the region, shale gas and nuclear fusion. The meeting further envisaged surveying members' wishes via survey; an association-wide survey is in preparation for 2013. The members at the meeting concluded this topic by expressing appreciation for the approach of the board and certainly the working group to the programme of activities and encouraged it to certainly continue like this!
Finally, the chairman reported that his predecessor Dick Polet will now also resign his ad interim secretarial position after many years of board participation. Paul Vermeulen will take over from him as secretary of Region-South from 13 October 2013.
Furthermore, the activities around the annual meeting were much appreciated by the participants. The interesting film about the Trappist order, the very lively tour with the guide from the abbey and the lunch with monastery products including, of course, Trappist beer gave every opportunity for animated discussions between the participants.
The programme we followed can of course be revisited on the activity pages on 2 March 2013, you can see the page here.
The annual report, financial report, policy intentions and budget with notes are all available for viewing.
