Description

Applied Environmental Design is based on the premise that our society is too material- and energy-intensive. By looking closely at the functionality and life cycle of products, this can be reduced considerably. One way of doing this is by measuring environmental properties; these form the basis of creativity processes. The ideas thus obtained are then converted into a 'prioritised environmental agenda' that can be incorporated into more general product specifications.

Criteria for prioritisation include - besides the environment - also 'benefits' for the company, the consumer and society and 'feasibility' (both technical and financial).
The presentation will give examples of how this approach works in practice. This will show that good environmental care in products is largely in line with other interests.

From 1996 to 2008, he was also a part-time professor in this field at TU Delft. He is currently still active as a 'professional volunteer'
