Network for Women Engineers
Description
KIVI NIRIA Network for Female Engineers (NVI)
Current affairs highlighted from the newly founded KIVI NIRIA network
In addition to the professional groups, regions and circles, the KIVI NIRIA Network for Female Engineers came into being at its founding meeting on 3 June 2009 in The Hague. Founded with the intention of providing a multidisciplinary platform for members to approach and highlight current topics in society from a different angle. The network also aims to provide space for varied activities such as a recent welding workshop. The network is growing rapidly and now has over 200 members.
In addition to explaining the newly created network, this evening will address the topical issue. In 1991, Michel Albert, former director of the French Planbu-reau, introduced the concept of the Rhineland in his book Capitalisme contre Capitalisme. On the one hand, there is the Rhineland model, capitalism based on solidarity, and on the other, the neo-American (Anglo-American) variant based on individualism. Also, there also seems to be a Chinese variant referred to as State capitalism. An introduction will explain these 3 models and look at what different organisations might look like in the three variants and what consequences and opportunities this has for employees. The introduction will be given by Sjaak Evers, who is active as coordinator of DeLimes zuid, an organisation that is actively working to make the ideas of the Rhineland model more widely known. After the introduction, there will be ample opportunity for questions and discussion. The activity is open to women and men.
Naturally, Region South wants to make room for a new section in our association and calls on members to take note of its objective and planned activities. At the same time, there will be an opportunity for those who might want to join to get acquainted.
