New Year's reception RZ on Kilimanjaro?
Description
This time, the New Year's reception will be combined with a presentation on one of the world's most spectacular hiking trails.
After you have had ample opportunity to greet each other and exchange New Year's wishes and after the chairman's annual speech, you will follow one of the 'World Hiking Trails' led by mountain guide Peter Schoorstra.
His fascinating presentation is split into two parts so that in between, in a spacious break, everyone will also have a chance to catch up with acquaintances.
As a mountain guide, Schoorstra leads several expedition trips every year, both in the Peruvian part of the Andes on the Inca Trail, in Nepal (Annapurna Base Camp), and in Africa.
Tonight, he will take you to Africa's highest mountain, Kilimanjaro, in Tanzania.
Peter made many mountain hikes in the Alps as a hotelier in southern Germany. Yet the height and difficulty of Kilimanjaro continued to attract him. He decided to take a group to this peak via the rainforest and has since been acting as a mountain guide and tour guide in Africa two to three times a year. He usually precedes the ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro (5895m) by climbing Mount Meru (4566m), which is a one-hour drive from it. He wrote the book: Kilimanjaro, diary of a Kiliganger and in it he talks in detail about the adventurous climb, flora and fauna.
Kilimanjaro is not only the highest mountain in Africa, but also the highest single mountain in the world. Peter will tell you all about its origins, the icecap, the landscape, its history and myth. And you will be told what to think about if you want to take the plunge yourself to complete this trek through the rainforest in Tanzania.
During the first part, Peter will give you general information about the origins and history of Kilimanjaro and you will see DVD footage from one of the previous expeditions.
After the break, this will be continued and there will be an opportunity to ask questions.
Like all years, the entire evening will have a festive character. Snacks and drinks are not missing. After the presentation, there will be plenty of time to chat with fellow members and the speaker.
