Description
Marko de Jager will outline cutting-edge research into the complex role plaque bacteria play in tooth decay and gum disease, illustrated through research projects conducted by Philips itself and with academic partners. It also discusses recent insights into the relationship between overall and oral health that further highlight the importance of good oral care and how these insights could significantly change the future of oral care. As an example of a recent innovation, Marko discusses the invention and realisation of the Philips Sonicare AirFloss - the latest way to floss your teeth - to give an idea of the many facets of product development within Philips
Marko de Jager did both his Mechanical Engineering studies and his PhD research within Mechanical Medical Technology at TU/e. Marko spent 18 years at Philips in the Netherlands and the United States in the field of scientific and clinical research for innovation and marketing of medical and personal care products in close cooperation with academic researchers and clinical experts. His expertise is particularly in oral care with brief forays into sports & fitness, in vitro diagnostics and breastfeeding products. He is now working as Principal Scientist & Thought Leader at the Oral Healthcare group of Philips Research Eindhoven.
