Description

Everyone in the Netherlands is insured with a health insurer. And once care is purchased, the health insurer plays a very important role in the financial settlement. Health insurers make prior agreements (purchasing process) with healthcare providers (doctors, hospitals, ...) on prices and quality of the care to be provided.

How does this purchasing process work?
Gert Jan Wissink, general policy maker at CZ, will lift a corner of the veil for us on how these agreements are made. Why are these agreements made, what do the agreements entail, why do agreements with one healthcare provider but not another? Is there a market mechanism? Is there a relationship between the procurement process and the increasingly expensive care in general? This related to the objective of a health insurer like CZ
