Description

The board of the Zeeland Region is pleased to invite you to a guided tour of Bierbrouwerij De Halve Maan in Hulst.
The tour starts in the tasting room where you will be welcomed to a glass of beer. This is followed by a brief description of the brewing process and an explanation of the brewing history and the history of De Halve Maan. This is followed by the tour of the brewing room, the water room, the fermentation and lagering cellar and the bottling plant. We finish again in the tasting room where four more beers can be tasted.
The new brewery was built in a grain warehouse dating back to the nineteenth century on the former station site just outside the fortress of Hulst. Trains used to pass here on the Terneuzen-Mechelen route. In the brewery's malt loft, you can see the hoisting tools and bascules betraying the building's former function. The brew kettles come from Artois brewery in Leuven and Ginder-Ale in Merchtem.
