Management and Operation Team Schelderadarketen (BET-SRK)
What are we going to see/learn?
On Thursday afternoon 16 April, we are guests of the technical maintenance department at the Scheldt Coordination Centre in Flushing. The joint Flemish-Dutch Management and Exploitation Team (BET) carries out the management of the systems of the Scheldt Marine Coordination Centre (SRK).
The technical management of all radar, VHF and ICT systems of the SRK includes:
- performing maintenance and system and network management to maintain high availability
- ensuring optimal functionality and quality management of the SRK in line with user needs and taking into account national legislation and internationally agreed regulations and guidelines
- planning, coordinating and realising migration projects related to the subsystems in order to keep the SRK technologically up to date
- adapting and expanding the SRK as a result of new policy initiatives and/or changed functional and operational requirements
Schelderadarketen

The Scheldt radar chain contributes to a safe and smooth shipping traffic in the Scheldt area and uses various technical systems.
Vessel Traffc Services (VTS) Scheldt area ensures a safe and smooth handling of shipping traffic by cooperating with actors (links of the nautical chain) through information exchange.
The SRK supports the VTS in the Scheldt area and consists of six manned traffic centres and more than 55 unmanned radar stations.
