Description

Doel nuclear power plant is one of two nuclear power plants in Belgium. Doel nuclear power plant is located in the Port of Antwerp, on the river Scheldt, near the village of Doel. Main owner of the nuclear power plant is the energy company Electrabel. The nuclear power plant has more than 800 employees. The surface area of the plant is 80 hectares.

The nuclear power plant has four PWR (pressurised water reactor) type reactors, more commonly known as a generation II, with a total capacity of 2839 MW:
Doel 1 : 392 MW
Doel 2 : 433 MW
Doel 3 : 1006 MW
Doel 4 : 1008 MW
Its annual output of around 22 billion KWh is just under 30% of Belgium's electricity production.

Doel 1 and 2 were commissioned in 1975, Doel 3 in 1982 and Doel 4 in 1985.

The programme includes an introduction to the nuclear power plant and a tour of the site.

Due to the screening of participants by the nuclear power plant operator, Electrabel, applications must be received by 2 February at the latest. Registrations after this date cannot be taken into consideration.
