Golf clinic at Burggolf Middelburg
Description
The province of Zeeland is home to five major golf courses and several smaller ones. There are even plans to expand the number of courses in Zeeland. The popularity of golf is therefore increasing tremendously.
The youngest golf course in Zeeland is from Burggolf in Middelburg. The club has a challenging 9-hole and par3 course and is located between the city and the A58 motorway.
A few years ago, we already organised a clinic at this club. Now we want to follow this up.
First, we will attend a clinic led by a golf professional to learn or refresh our golf technique. Then, and this is new, we will play a 9-hole round on the par3 course. This is the club's course on which you can play golf without a golf licence.
We also want to make playing on the par3 course attractive for participants with a golfing licence or handicap. We do this by adding a competition in the form of the "stableford points system". This system allows persons without experience to have equal chances of winning compared to persons with a handicap. For example, a beginner may take 3 more strokes over a hole than someone with a low, i.e. experienced golfer, handicap.
During the clinic, experienced golfers can already walk a round on the par3 course. After the clinic, we will go around the course in groups of three or four, depending on the number of participants. We will divide the experienced golfers among the groups so that they can give instructions and help count the strokes.
We will be welcomed with a drink in the clubhouse on Friday 12 September between 13:45 and 14:00. At 2pm, the clinic and the walking of the rounds by the experienced players will then start
