Description
In the Koegorspolder to the south of Terneuzen, the municipality of Terneuzen erected a striking new building. In addition to the municipal Realisation & Management and Fire departments, this building also houses the ZorgSaam Zeeuws-Vlaanderen ambulance service.
The official opening of this building is scheduled for 15 April 2011. Especially for KIVI NIRIA members, it is possible to take an earlier look behind the scenes at this special complex. At this location, all municipal vehicles are stored and maintained and a lot of fire brigade equipment is on display. The building includes striking slides for firefighters (from the 2nd and 3rd floors), various workshops, a truck wash, container storage and huge salt shed with salt mixing plant.
The stunning design by architecture firm RDH (Rothuizen, Van Doorn and 't Hoofd) attracts attention from afar with its flaming colours. Inside, it is mainly (apple) green!
During this company visit, there will also be a presentation on the Kanaalkruising Sluiskil (KKS), the tunnel under the Canal from Gent to Terneuzen, which will be worked on from 2011.
